January Needs List for the 14th & Chestnut Community Center
Prayer Requests:
-Prayer for God to continue to meet our financial needs
-Prayer for the children’s families broken by drug and alcohol abuse
-Prayer for the many single mothers in our neighborhood who are
struggling to support and raise their children
-Prayer for God to provide a new roof and other building repairs that
are needed at the Community Center
-Prayer for the staff and volunteers who serve the children and youth
each day
-Prayer for protection over our property and everyone involved in this
ministry
Volunteers Needed:
-Sunday School Classes, businesses, or organizations to sponsor our
monthly birthday parties – urgent need for January, February, and March
sponsors.
-AARP offers paid positions at the Community Center for senior citizens
who meet certain age and income requirements. AARP workers are with us
20 hours each week.
-A volunteer to work (2) afternoons each month, teaching Anger
Management skills. A background in teaching or counseling is preferable.
All materials are supplied by the Community Center.
-A JAM (Jesus and Me) Bible Study teacher for our 3rd-5th grade girls
and our K-1-2 students. A perfect opportunity for Sunday School teachers
who can re-teach their Sunday lessons to the children at the Center. A
heart for teaching children the Gospel and a 1-hour per week commitment
is all that is required
-Male volunteers to teach and work with our middle school and high
school male students (automotive upkeep/repairs; small engines;
carpentry).
-A volunteer to work (9-12) on either Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday each
week. Duties include answering the telephone, taking messages, and other
light office work.
-Volunteers with trucks who would be willing to pick-up food and other
donations as they are given to us.
-Big Brothers/ Big Sisters needed for several of our students.
-Churches who have not appointed a liaison to represent your
congregation on our Liaison Board to complete application.
-Churches to participate in BARRELS OF BLESSINGS campaigns each month.
-Video Production instructors to work with our older students to film,
edit, and produce a video about the Community Center.
Donations Needed:
-Churches, businesses, and organizations to purchase tickets for our
second annual “GIFTS FROM THE HEART” Banquet to be held on the ISU
Campus on Friday, January 30th. -Churches, businesses, and organizations

-Monetary donations to meet monthly operating expenses at the Community
Center.
-Walk-In Cooler to store milk and other perishable items
-Cap for a 1995 Dodge Dakota pick-up (6 ½’ bed). A pick-up truck was
donated to the Community Center and a cap for this truck will give us a
vehicle for picking up donations, milk, etc.
-Contractors/suppliers/churches willing to donate roof, lighting/wiring
in gymnasium, painting of gymnasium (materials or labor).
-Laminating Machine.
-Veggie Tale Videos.
-Grocery Store Gift Cards to purchase perishable items for Grumbling
Tummies’ Café and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard. |
